Savage, Louis R.

82-year-old Fairfield resident Louis R. Savage passed away Friday, May 17, 2019 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield, Illinois. Louis was born September 30, 1936 at Burnt Prairie, Illinois to Pender and Mary (O'dell) Savage. At a young age, Louis joined the Liberty Baptist Church where he was baptized on September 26, 1948. He attended the Burnt Prairie Grade School and graduated from the Mills Prairie High School in 1954. On August 14, 1976 he married Shirley Walters Meritt. Shirley preceded him in death on January 7, 2014. Louis was a retired teamster of local 710. A lifelong supporter of the working people and a proud supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals. Louis was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. Louis attended the Gospel Assembly Church in Mill Shoals, Illinois. Louis R. Savage is survived by 3 daughters, Debra and husband Joe Lepe of Palos Hills, Illinois, Diana and husband John Masella of Western Springs, Illinois and Janice Mills of Decatur, Alabama, one son Michael Meritt of Nolanville, TX, one brother Pender "Red" and wife Velda Savage of Fairfield, Illinois and one sister Valeda and husband Ben of Port Orange, Fla. 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley, 1 daughter Donna and one brother Charles (Shack) Savage. Funeral services for Louis R. Savage will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Nale's Funeral Home with Brother John Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, evening, May 20, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. by the Fairfield Masonic Lodge #206. Geneva Lorene Schoenheit, 96, of Grayville, Illinois, died Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville. She was born March 16, 1922, in Petersburg, Indiana, the daughter of Thomas and Jessie Blance (Powers) Nolen. She was married to Lloyd Schoenheit and he preceded her in death on July 9, 1977. She was a homemaker and loved her family. Survivors include sons Larry (Wilma) Schoenheit, Mark (Julie) Schoenheit; sister Winonia Nonia (Ray) Henson, all of Grayville; grandchildren Angela (Bryan) Reed, Kelly Schoenheit, Megan (Asa) Deffendall, Mitchell Schoenheit and his fiancé Lindsay Rouse, Taylor Schoenheit; great grandchildren Nicole Reed, Landon Reed and his fiancé Alicen Wellborn, Delaney Deffendall, Jacob Deffendall; great great grandchildren Rhett McCary and Rylan Reed. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters Garnett Stern, Pauline Norsworthy and Gertrude Funkhouser. Visitation and funeral are Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville. Visitation is 10:00 am, and funeral is 12:00 noon. Burial is in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville. Schroeder, George Michael

George Michael Schroeder, 69, of Grayville, Illinois, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at his home. He was born November 21, 1948, in Princeton, Indiana, the son of John George Schroeder and Anna Louise (Padgett) Schroeder. He was married to Jennifer Lynn (Smith) Schroeder, and she survives. George was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the Antioch Christian Church in Cowling, Illinois, and for many years, he was caretaker of the Antioch Cemetery. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors and cruising the county roads with his grandchildren in search of spotting wildlife. Survivors include his wife, Jennifer of Grayville; daughters Mary Ann (Greg) Rudolph of West Salem, Illinois, Jennilee Schroeder of Grayville; Melody Schroeder of Olney, Illinois; grandsons Dacin Rudolph, Jacob Rudolph and Evan Moore. Seifried, Charles William

Charles William Seifried, 83, of rural Grayville, Illinois, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi, Illinois. He was born June 7, 1934, in Gray Township, White County, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Martha (Green) Seifried. He was married to Pat (Balding) Seifried, and she survives. Charles was a member of the First Christian Church in Grayville, and was a United States Army Veteran. He enjoyed working and collecting and restoring farm tractors. He was a member of the Keck-Gonnerman Tractor Club in Mt. Vernon, Indiana, and enjoyed travelling to various tractor shows - especially the Half Century of Progress Show in Rantoul, Illinois. Survivors include his wife, Pat Seifried of Grayville; son Kevin (Tammy) Seifried of Grayville; daughter Kathy (Stan) Rawlinson of Carmi; grandchildren April (Kevin) Ward, Mark Rawlinson, Clint Rawlinson; great grandchildren Jaxon Ward and Austyn Ward; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother Don Seifried. Visitation is 5-7 pm, Monday, May 28, 2018, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville. 79-year-old Fairfield resident, Earl G. Smith passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Aperion Care in Fairfield, Illinois. Earl was born May 28, 1939 in Wayne County, Illinois. He was the son of Samuel Luther and Lucille (Stolz) Smith. Earl married Frieda Savage on July 25, 1964 in Fairfield and she preceded him in death on April 6, 2014. Earl retired from Airtex Products and was a lifelong farmer. Cremation is to take place and no formal services will be held. Inurnment of ashes will take place at a later date in Maple Hill Cemetery. 88-year-old former Fairfield resident, Martha Lucille Smith passed away Thursday evening, May 2, 2019 at Sunrise of Naperville North Assisted Living Facility in Naperville, Illinois. Martha Lucille was born June 30, 1930 in Grayville, Illinois to Herman and Bernice (Xanders) McCurdy. She married Virgil Smith on November 7, 1958 in Fairfield and he preceded her in death on July 1, 1992. Martha Lucille was a homemaker and while living in Fairfield she worked at Airtex Products. She moved to the Chicago area in 1958. Survivors include four daughters, Debby (Bob) Cissell of Aurora, IL; Elizabeth Ann (Glenn) Sturgeon of Hanover Park, IL; Brenda (Tom) Ferris of Franklin Park, IL; and Lorri Walker of Anchorage, Alaska; Eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil and her parents. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 10th, at 11:00 am at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield with Father Charles Anyaoku of St. Edwards Catholic Church officiating. Elfreda R. Taylor, 84, formerly of Grayville, Illinois, died Friday, July 13, 2018, at Community Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born March 3, 1934, in Grayville, the daughter of Frank and Clara (Christman) Taylor. She was a homemaker and member of the First Christian Church in Grayville. Survivors include several nephews and nieces: Paul Collins, Joe Collins, Jim Dunlap, Brian Dunlap, Charlotte Rainwater, Joel Sampson, Sarah, Sherry and Susan. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Harry, Frank and Charles Taylor; sisters Helen Sampson, Joanna Collins, Sue Ann Dunlap; and sister-in-law Jeanette Taylor. A graveside service will be at 11:00 am, Monday, July 16, 2018, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville. There will be no prior visitation. Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville is in charge of arrangements. Michael A. Vaughan, 35, of Eldorado, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019 in Eldorado. Michael was born in Carmi on April 4, 1984 to Tracy and Brenda (Jones) Vaughan. He loved the outdoors and loved to go fishing, camping and hiking. He was a member of the Eldorado Fire Department Fire/Rescue serving for 7 1/2 years. He worked at RDF in Eldorado from 2004-2014 and was currently working as a machinist at Vibracoustic in Carmi. Michael was a caring individual with a big heart and would help anyone in need. Michael is survived by his parents Tracy and Brenda Vaughan of Eldorado, two brothers, Mitch (Ginger) Vaughan of Eldorado and Matt Vaughan and a nephew Kaden Vaughan and a niece Olivia Vaughan. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Ellery, IL. Anthony Dale "Tony" Warren, 64, of Carmi passed away at 5:10 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born in Mt. Carmel, IL on February 2, 1955 the son of Eileen (Tupper) Warren. Tony married Debra Jean Graham on April 29, 1976. He was a molder at Trelleborg for 15 years. He enjoyed working on cars, riding motorcycles, hunting and fishing. Tony is survived by his wife of 42 years, Debbie; four son, Terry (Amanda) Warren, Anthony Dale (Ashley Back) Warren, II, James Adam (Jessica) Warren, Justin Allen Warren, all of Carmi; daughter, Cassey (Jimmy Hoover) Warren, of Carmi; two sisters, Connie Miller, of Maunie and Christine (John R.) Mick, of Crossville; eight grandchildren, Emily Bradfield, Hunter, Riley, Levi, Allie and Zoey Warren and Wyatt and Owen Hoover. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Eileen and Richard Bane and brother-in-law, Bill Harmon. Jessie P. Williams, 86, of Grayville, Illinois, died Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehabilitation in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. She was born October 23, 1931, in Grayville, the daughter of Gilbert and Hope (Goldman) Aborn. She was a homemaker and was married to Richard F. "Fudd" Williams on October 23, 1951, and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2015. Jessie was a member of the First Christian Church in Grayville. She enjoyed playing cards, arts and crafts, quilting, embroidering, working in her yard and gardening. Her biggest joy was her family. Survivors include sons Richard (Peggy) Williams of Robinson, Illinois, Jay (Cherry) Williams of Albion, Illinois; sisters Toni Andry of Paoli, Indiana, Amanta Williams of Jasper, Indiana, Roberta Mayes of Albion; grandchildren Stacie Williams, Lori Goble, Sarah Arnone, Ashlie Gaddis, Jason Williams, Elysia Williams; great grandchildren Kelcie Yager, Amanda May Yager, Dave Goble, Jeffrey Goble, Jackson Goble, Mason Arnone, Peighton Arnone, Morgan Gaddis, Jacob Collard Williams, Kairi Williams. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Harlan and George Aborn; and sister Barbara "Toots" Campbell. In keeping with her wishes, Jessie's remains were cremated. Wilson, June (Martin)

June Wilson, 75 of Fairfield, IL, passed away early Thursday morning
October 24, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born
March 7, 1944 in Olney, IL, to McDowell and Justine (Meyer) Martin. June
married Allen Wilson on August 31, 1963 at the First United Methodist Church
in Fairfield and they have made their home in Fairfield for over 56 years.
June was a devoted housewife, mother, and grandmother and very active in the
community. Serving on numerous committees, boards, and fountains including
FUMC committees, Fairfield Ladies Golf, FNB Foundation, Director of Friends
of the Library, volunteered as a Pink Lady at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in
the seventies and she was instrumental in organizing the FCHS Alumni
reunions each year serving as their Secretary / Treasurer for many years.
She was a faithful member of the Fairfield First United Methodist Church,
attending since childhood. June graduated from Fairfield Community High
School and attended college at SIU in Carbondale.
June will be deeply missed by husband, Allen, son, Doug (Dana) Wilson of
Fairfield; daughter, Susan Fuhrhop of St. Louis, Missouri; brother, Gene
(Glenda) Martin of Georgetown, Texas and sister, Janie (Larry) McDowell of
Fairfield; Grandchildren, Kaylyn, Lyndsay, and Madalyn Fuhrhop, Emily, Sara
and Michael Wilson and step grandchildren, Olivia & Ian Baumgardner and
nephew, Chris Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents and niece,
Shannon McDowell.
A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, October 27th, 2019 at
3:00pm at the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield. A visitation will
be held from 1:30pm until the time of the service at the Church. In lieu of
flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church and will
be accepted at the church.

Witter, Lowell Frederick
December 25, 1936 ~ October 12, 2019
82-year-old Elgin resident, Lowell Frederick Witter passed away at
12:11am, Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in
Evansville, Indiana.
Lowell was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1936 in Jasper Township in
Wayne County, Illinois and was the second of twelve children born to George
Eugene and Carrie Alberta (Dawson) Witter.
His education started at King School and finished in the Fairfield Schools.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1956. Most of his life was
spent in the Elgin, Illinois area where he was self-employed, operating Aero
Landscaping for many years. Lowell had secured several patents for his
inventions, winning a bronze medal for his framework removal tool in
international competition. Lowell attended Willow Creek Community Church in
Barrington, Illinois.
Surviving are four brothers, Harold Eugene (Anita) Witter of Barnhill; Leo
Verl (Donna) Witter of Mill Shoals; Loren Earl Witter, of Mason; and Donald
Lewis (Virginia) Witter of Fairfield and four sisters, Doris Ellen (Dennis)
Bland Cropper and Shirley Elaine Edgington of Fairfield; Dorotha (Lowell)
Thackrey of Carmi; and LaDonna Marie Calton of Bedford, Texas. An aunt,
Evelyn Marie (Dawson) Musgrave of Marion, Illinois and many nieces, nephews,
and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and three
brothers, Leon Beryl Witter, Robert Lynn Witter, and Ronald Allen Witter.
Funeral services for Lowell will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at
11:00am at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield. A Visitation will be from 9am
until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Maple Hill
Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Real Life Church or Grace Chapel of
Fairfield and will be accepted at the funeral home. Online condolences may
