Michael W. Hartman, 61, of Grayville, Illinois, died Friday, June 1, 2018, at his home. He was born August 15, 1956, in East St. Louis, Illinois, the son of Gerald and Patricia (Gabriel) McKinney. He was married to Julie McComas on December 24, 2017, and she survives. Mike attended Cornerstone Church in Grayville, and was a United States Army Veteran. He was a mechanic and had a passion for working on anything mechanical. He enjoyed spending time at the river with his dogs, working on cars, and especially being with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Julie Hartman of Grayville; mother Patricia "Pat" McKinney of Fairfield, Illinois; sons Brandon Raymond and Brian (Natasha) Raymond, all of Grayville; daughter Kelly Hartman of Herrin, Illinois; brothers Kenneth (Jennifer) McKinney of Olney, Illinois, Ed (Elaine) McKinney, John (Michelle) McKinney, Richie McKinney, Brian (Christie) McKinney, all of Fairfield; sister Shelia Bailey of Albion, Illinois; grandchild Bree Hartman; step-grandchildren Annastasia, Kali, Josie, Brandon, Jr., Madilynn, Myla and Aiden. He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald McKinney; sisters Patty Mitchell and twin Mickey Hartman; brothers Jimmy McKinney, Jerry Hartman and Frank Hartman, Jr. In keeping with Mike's wishes, his remains were cremated. Visitation and memorial service will be Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville. Visitation is at 10 am, and memorial service is at 11 am. Following the memorial service, military rites will be conducted on the Cook Funeral Chapel parking lot. No services will be conducted at the cemetery, and it is requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Cook Funeral Chapel to assist with final expenses. Hartsock, Alena Faye
January 22, 1928 - January 21, 2019
Alena Faye Hartsock, 90, of Grayville, Illinois, died Monday, January 21, 2019, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois. She was born January 22, 1928, in Grayville, the daughter of Herbie Lloyd Williams and Bessie Leona (Eck) Williams. She married Kenneth Charles Hartsock on November 4, 1954, and he preceded her in death on October 28, 1964. Alena was a homemaker, but she worked outside the home as a telephone operator, meat cutter, and retail clerk. She was well known for her love of baking cookies and her cookie jar that she kept well-stocked on her kitchen table. Survivors include sons Stephen L. (Beth) Hartsock, Kenneth (Lori) Hartsock, all of Grayville, Jay (Stephanie) Marshall of Eagle, Idaho; daughter Linda Gail (Mike) Murphy of Herrin, Illinois; grandchildren Holly (Christopher) Lewis, Andy (Jessica) Williams, Stephen I. Hartsock, Jackie Hartsock (Chris Daggett), Rosie (Danny) Kuykendall, Dannah Hartsock, Elliott Hartsock, Mitchell Kleinschmidt (Katie), Amanda Kleinschmidt, Owen Marshall, Aidan Marshall; and numerous great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister Helen Marie "Rosie" Bump. In keeping with Alena's wishes, her remains were cremated. Hinderliter, Lois Jean
September 28, 1921 - August 19, 2019
Lois Jean Hinderliter, 97, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2019 at Oakview Nursing Home. She was born September 28, 1921 in Mattoon Illinois, the daughter of George and Sylvia (Daly) Strine. She was married to Wayne Robert Hinderliter who preceded her in death. Lois had worked at Champion Laboratories for many years before her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her garden. Lois was always active in her church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School at Gospel Assembly Church. More recently she was a member of Christ Chapel in Evansville, IN. She loved her family and will be dearly missed. Lois will be remembered by her son, Robert Hinderliter and his special friend, Elaine Davis; daughter, Deloris Ann (Gary) Wood; grandson, Mick Wood; great-grandsons, Ryan, Dereck and Robert (L.B.) Hinderliter, Ty and Drew Wood; several nieces, nephews and close friend, Mary Brock. Lois was preceded in death by her husband; grandsons, Robert, Brian and Lynn Hinderliter; parents; sisters, Geraldine Hoffman, Margaret Smith; brothers, Paul, Merrell and John Strine. Joyce A. Knight, 87, formerly of Grayville, Illinois, died Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Premier Healthcare of New Harmony in New Harmony, Indiana. She was born August 15, 1930, in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of John and Lillian (Walker) Coe. She was married to Louis Mitchell Knight, and he preceded her in death. Joyce had an outgoing personality and never knew a stranger. She enjoyed going to yard sales, collecting teapots and watching HSN TV. While living in Georgia, she attended the First Street Church of Christ in Cordele, Georgia. Survivors include son Jimmy (Dorothy) Knight of Whitesburg, Georgia, daughter Nancy Davis of Leesburg, Georgia, son Dale (Susan) Knight of Cordele; brother Sid (Connie) Coe of Flower, Illinois; sister Barbara Earl of Grayville; sister in law Rowene Coe of Crossville, Illinois; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Betty Coe; brothers Fred Coe and John Coe; and one granddaughter, Whitney Strickland. Land, Marsha Lynn

73 year old former Fairfield resident, Marsha Lynn Land passed away Friday morning, November 15, 2019 at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi.

Lynn was born October 24, 1946 in East St. Louis, Illinois. In the later part of her childhood, Lynn lived with her parents, August and Madonna Jones, along with her brother, Tony and sister, Sharon and several cousins. On October 27, 1966, Lynn married Jon Land in Vienna, Illinois. Jon preceded her in death on January 12, 2015. Lynn did clerical work for several businesses. Jon and Lynn lived in Fairfield, West Frankfort, Johnson City and Marion. For the last several years, Lynn lived at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi, Illinois

Lynn is survived by one brother, Tony (Jane) Jones of Ellery; one sister, Sharon Langley of Wood River, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two sons.

Funeral services for Lynn Land will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2019 at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to service time. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Wabash Christian Village, and will be accepted at Nale's Funeral Home of Fairfield, which is in charge of arrangements

Larch, Hazel Joyce

Hazel Joyce Larch, 86, of Clinton, Arkansas, died Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. She was born September 24, 1931, in Conway, Arkansas, the daughter of Walter Ruel Jones and Vera (Phillips) Jones. She was married to Jake Larch for 53 years, and he preceded her in death in December, 2015. For 31 years, Hazel and her husband, Jake, owned and operated Larch's Clothing and Shoe Store in Albion, Illinois. Survivors include daughter Belinda (Ken) Johnson of Clinton; sister Edith Everett of Mt. Carmel; grandson Chance (Melanie) Johnson of Russellville, Arkansas; great grandchildren Cort and Reese Johnson; several nieces and nephews; and many friends and neighbors. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother; and two sisters. In keeping with Hazel's wishes, her remains were cremated. A visitation and memorial service will be at the Northside Baptist Church in Grayville, Illinois, on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. Visitation is at 10 am and memorial service is at 11 am. A second visitation and memorial service will be Monday, July 30, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Clinton. Visitation is at 10 am, and memorial service is at 11 am. 87-year-old Albion resident, Iva Lou Leigh passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. Iva Lou was born April 18, 1932 in Dexter, Missouri to Lemuel and Alma (Ashworth) Masterson. On March 7, 1951, Iva Lou married Richard Leigh in West Salem, Illinois. Richard preceded her in death on December 23, 2017. Iva Lou retired from Champion Laboratories after 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Albion and their senior adult Sunday School Class. Iva Lou is survived by one son, Daniel Leigh of Owensboro, Kentucky, one daughter, Janice Doan and husband Marty of Albion. Two grandchildren, Mason Doan and wife Rachel and Tyler Doan all of Evansville, Indiana and three great grandchildren, Emme, Tyson, and Chloe. Preceding Iva Lou in death were her parents, husband, Richard, one brother, Bill Masterson and one sister, Doris Berg. Funeral services for Iva Lou will be held Thursday, July 18th at 10:00am at the First Baptist Church in Albion with Interment to follow in Graceland Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening, July 17, 2019 from 5pm to 8pm at the church. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church for their community-wide Thanksgiving Dinners or to the Albion First United Methodist Church for their backpack program and will be accepted at the visitation and funeral. Kim R. (Wood) Lingafelter
FEBRUARY 28, 1965 ~ SEPTEMBER 17, 2019
54 year old Albion resident, Kim Lingafelter passed away early Tuesday morning, September 17, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Kim was born February 28, 1965, in Manning, Iowa, to Roy and Faye (Huff) Wood. On July 24, 1993 she married Todd Lingafelter in Willow Hill, Illinois and he survives. Kim was a homemaker and a member of Little Prairie Christian Church in Albion. Kim thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and her precious grandchildren.

Kim is survived by her husband, Todd; one daughter, Jennifer (Jerimy) Cunningham and one son, Joshua Lingafelter all of Albion, one
brother, Curt (Judy) Wood of Fairfield, Illinois, and six grandchildren, Dessa, Carol, Kylah, Sophiah, Noah, and Norah and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Patrick.

Funeral services for Kim will be held at noon on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Nale's Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois. A visitation will be held Friday at the funeral home from 10:00am until service time. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery in Albion. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the donor's choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Longbons, Marjorie Jane (Speir)

 Marjorie Jane Longbons, 78 of Albion, passed away April 11, 2019 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. She was born September 16, 1940 in Clay City, Illinois to Claudie Earl and Sara Mae (Tetrick) Speir. She married Cabot Longbons on November 23, 1968 in Albion, IL and he preceded her in death on September 19, 2007. Marge was a teller at the Citizens National Bank of Albion where she worked for 26 years and continued part time after retirement. She enjoyed gardening, traveling with friends, watching traffic from her garage, and following her granddaughter to her many horse-related events. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Women of the Moose. Marjorie was proceeded in death by her husband Cabot Longbons, step-son, Bruce Longbons, her parents Claudie Earl and Sara Mae Speir, a twin sister Martha Johnson, two brothers Lawrence and Fred Speir and a grandson Richard Longbons. She is survived by her daughter Sara (Rodney) Hazel, of Albion; Step-daughter Carolyn (Dave) Frisch, of Carbondale; granddaughter Brooklyn Hazel, of Albion; grandsons Greg Longbons, of Olney, Scott (Paula) Frisch, of Carbondale and Brad (Patti) Frisch, of Rockford and three great grandchildren; Five sisters, Mary West, of Albion; Anita (John) Downer, of Princeton, IN; Marilyn Longbons, of Albion; Nancy (Greg) Nelson of Albion, and Norma (Dave) Buckles of Albion; and three brothers, Leroy (Martha) Speir of Albion, Neal Speir of Albion, and Howard (Janette) Speir of Pegram, TN; and several nieces and nephews. Wendell W. Lowery, 77, of Grayville, Illinois, died Thursday, October 18, 2018, at his home. He was born October 30, 1940, in Orchardville, Illinois, the son of Edgar and Lureana (King) Lowery. On January 1, 1959, he was married to Mary (Garrett) Lowery, and she survives. Wendell was a retired carpenter. Among his many interests were playing pool, motorcycles, traveling, collecting Indian artifacts, watching western movies, and enjoying time with his family, especially the grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Mary Lowery; daughters Sherrie Ward and Kathy (Kenny) Thompson, all Grayville; grandchildren Jake (Praveena) Ward, Travis (Ashley) Thompson, Jessica (Kyle) Roosevelt, and Sky Thompson; great grandchildren Brooklyn Thompson and Ethan Thompson; step great grandchildren Tyler Roosevelt, Kylee Roosevelt and Zeke Roosevelt; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Juanita Cook, Eleanor Headley, Helen Collins, Mary Cooley; and brother Donald Lowery.
