Seeking information on Amos Willis (June 07, 1789 - January 07, 1840). He was married to Sarah Robertson (June 11, 1792 - September 1854). Their children were Amelia Judith, Harrison Jackson, Charlotte T, Robert B, Martha Jane, Sarah Elizabeth, Mary Jane, Malinda , John B and Wright W.
Amos was the first preacher of the Church of Christ in the county. He was buried at Little Prairie Churchyard.
Amos was born in Maryland, and lived in Kentucky and Tennessee before moving to Illinois.
Any information would be appreciated.

In 1820/1830 there was a James Vincent family in Edwards Co., Illinois. One of my g g grandparents was Charles Vincent who married Sarah Cross in 1832 in Edwards Co.. Charles then moved to Stoddard Co., Missouri and then to Dunklin Co. Missouri where he died in 1892. He and most of his children and their wifes are buried in the Vincent Cem. which is located near Campbell, Missouri. I have all the family information from Charles to present day , but nothing on Charles Vincent or Sarah Cross parents. Aaron married Martha Jennings THOMPSON in 1835 and they are listed in the 1840 Census with 3 children. Allen married Elizabeth Sanders in 1835 and they are also in the 1840 Census with 3 children. I cannot locate either brother from that point. Aaron supposedly died in 1849. Allen is listed in the 1860 Crittenden Co. KY Census with his father, William ADAMSON. In 1977, my parents took me to Bone Gap researching the family history, and we visited the farm of Mrs. Lillian Ford (now deceased) where we spent a nice afternoon. She took us back behind the house to show us the "Old Rice Yard" formerly the Trinity Presbyterian Church Cemetery. I took photographs of my great-great-grandfather, Cyrus Rice's tombstone, but the cemetery was in great disarray with many more tombstones broken, buried, or unreadable. I am wanting to know if anyone has read this cemetery for tombstone inscriptions, or if it has since been restored. I am especially interested to find out if Cyrus's son Austin Maxwell Rice (1827-1873) was buried there. Does anyone have information on this cemetery?

I'm trying to find a copy of the journal kept by John Woods, who traveled from Killinghurst, Surrey, England in 1819 to the English settlement, Wanboro, which I understand is now Elery, IL. I have read part of his journal as excerpted in the Prairie Post in 1986.
I cannot search for this book as there is no specific title.
I believe some of my relatives may have traveled with him down the Ohio River.
Can anyone tell me where I might find information about this book? I'm assuming the Priarie Post, in Albion, is out of business.

Am interested in the HALL family that settled in Big Mound area in the very early 1800's. They lived in the hollows that is now near the county line of Wayne, White and Hamilton Counties, Illinois. ELIZABETH HALL born in 1818/19 married JOHN CLEVENGER. To this union were born 14 children. She was widowed around 1856/9 and remarried LEVI CROSS. She died in 1904, and her obit stated that she never lived anywhere other than within a mile of where she was buried.
Would appreciate any info on the HALL families that were one of the earliest settlers in what is now Wayne County, IL.

Thomas and Nancy CARNEY were one of the first families to make permanent settlement in Edwards County along with Jonathan SHELBY, John BELL, Lot SAMS and Isaac GREATHOUSE. Elizabeth CARNEY sister to Thomas CARNEY married Joh BELL (probably his second wife). I have a lot of information on Thomas after his departure from Edwards County, IL to Barry County, MO, but have NO information on him prior to his arrival in Illinois. I am looking for information on David Locke who married Debora K.Dawson April 8, 1918 in Edwards Co. Ill. . I would like to know the names of the parents for David Locke and for Deborha K. Dawson. I don't know where they came from or anything else before 1819. David Locke is my gr. gr. grandfather. David and Deborha Dawson had three children that I know of . Margarett Locke who married John B.E,Glenn and their daughter Missouri was my great grandmother. Their second child was Fields Jarvis Locke (Lock) born May 20, 1825 near Springfeild Ill. and Mary Ellen Locke (Lock) who was born Sept. 1827 and married George Washington Glenn. These sisters married brothers and settled in Mo. Dade Co. I would greatly apperictate anything anyone may know. I do know there were alot of Dawsons in Edwards Co. at that time. My multiple great grandparents were residents of Edwards County from about 1817 to 1844. James Overstreet married Susanna Holland in Crawford County, Illinois, in 1817. Their children included William Henry Harrison Overstreet. James Overstreet died in Edwards County in 1839 without a will. William Henry Harrison Overstreet probated his estate. He was then 21 or 22 years of age. His father in law, Thomas Carney, was a witness in his behalf. I believe there were a number of younger children including a Milton Overstreet. William Overstreet left Edwards County in about 1844 for Barry County Missouri. The Carney's moved at the same time. (He married Mary Ann Carney) Mary Ann Carney's parents were Thomas Carney and Nancy Susan Warmoth, whose families were also early settlers of Edwards County. Any information about these families would be appreciated.
